I am a sociologist of education and social stratification with a strong interest in quantitative methods. In April 2000 I was awarded a PhD in Social and Political Sciences at the European University Institute (San Domenico di Fiesole, Florence). Between 1999 and 2007 I was a Research Fellow in the Centre for Educational Sociology where I was involved in a number of national and international projects.
My main research interests are: social inequalities in education and the labour market, social mobility, youth transitions and cross-country comparative analysis.
In my research I have used various data sources (e.g. Labour Force Survey, Scottish School Leavers Survey, National Child Development Study) and various statistical methods such as multinomial logistic regression, log-linear modelling and multilevel modelling.
