Mark Shephard is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland. He graduated with a PhD from the University of Houston and has conducted research on the UK Parliament, the Scottish Parliament, the European Parliament and the US Congress. Recent research has focused on measuring legislative impact on executives (see The Journal of Legislative Studies, 2009; UK contributor to Legislative Oversight and Budgeting, 2008; Political Studies, 2005; Public Administration, 2004), other forms of legislator behaviour such as communications with constituents (see Journal of Elections, Public Opinion and Parties, 2007), tactics in constituency office location (see The Journal of Legislative Studies, 2007), and public reactions to politician imagery (see British Journal of Politics and International Relations, 2007 and British Politics, 2008). Current research interests include committees and parliamentary questions and accountability in Westminster and Holyrood.
Mark teaches quantitative (using SPSS) and qualitative (using N-Vivo) methods to both undergraduates and postgraduates.
