How long will Scottish babies live? **FULL**
******This event is now full*****
A class in building period and cohort life tables and projecting mortality.
The class will introduce students to one of the oldest and most used quantitative models in demography, the Life Table. Invented in the 17th century, it is still vital for planning the future of health care, personal care and pensions in an ageing society. The class will cover principles in a lecture followed by a practical session using spreadsheets to compute life tables for Scotland.
This class is a follow on training event from the Annual Lecture and will be hosted by Emeritus Professor Phil Rees.
Who: The class is suitable for both professional statisticians and quantitative researchers.
