Registration for this event is now closed and all places have been allocated
One day hands-on workshop led by Professor Vernon Gayle, Department of Applied Social Science, University of Stirling
This course is designed to provide a brief and highly accessible introduction to quantitative longitudinal data analysis using Stata software, for social researchers and post-graduate students.
The course is aimed at researchers whose interests are substantive rather than methodological and who may wish to engage with longitudinal data but have no clear point of access.
The event will close with a lecture by Professor Lucinda Platt, which is open to all AQMeN members. Participants attending the training are expected to attend this lecture.

Application process
There are 25 places available on this course. Places will be allocated following a process of application and priority will be given to students and academic staff in Scotland who meet the selection criteria detailed below, and for which the course is free to attend.
Non-academics and academics from outside Scotland are welcome to apply, but priority will be given to students and academic staff in Scotland who meet the selection criteria. There will be a charge for non-academics and academics outside Scotland to attend as foolows:
- Students and academic staff in Scotland - FREE
- Students and academic staff outside Scotland - £50

Successful applicants will be notified by 5pm on Monday 24th January at the latest.
Criteria for selection
All participants must be competent in the use of personal computers and the Windows environment. Experience of working with a statistical data analysis package such as SPSS is desirable. Participants MUST NOT be reluctant to work using syntax (rather than through menus). Knowledge of statistical modelling (especially regresssion techniques) is required.
Ideally participants should attend the Introduction to Longitudinal Data Analysis event on the 10th February, otherwise they must demonstrate in their application that they already have knowledge and experience of the topics being taught during this event.
Participants MUST indicate what they wish to achieve from the course and how they plan to employ techniques that will be taught.
