Consultancy Service
AQMeN’s Consultancy Service is available to PhD students and people working in Scotland who require help with social science research that involves quantitative analysis. The Service provides advice to those seeking help with:-
- Study design including power and sample-size calculations
- Data analysis and modelling
- Interpretation and reporting results
- Advice on statistical software
Before making a request, please read the information on this page carefully and consider whether there are other ways to find the information you need. For example, members seeking help with data preparation or learning to use a statistical package should first consider using the Online Resources available via the AQMeN website.
Members are also encouraged to:-
- Post a message on the Online Forum opening their request up to all members for help
- Use the Member Search Facility on the website to find a member with specific expertise or at a specific location who could be approached for assistance.
If you need to use the Consultancy Service:
- First register as a member AQMeN (if you have not already)
- Download the Request Form and complete and return it to AQMeN.
We will assess your request and identify a Network Member with appropriate skills to provide advice. Advice will be given by telephone, email or, if necessary, by face-to-face consultation. If you are a PhD student, your supervisor should be present during the consultation. Note that usually only one consultancy session will be offered relating to each request.
AQMeN’s Consultants are drawn from a database of Network Members with specific skills who are willing to provide advice to others. If you would be willing to provide advice to other Network members please contact us .
Please note the Consultancy Service does not provide advice relating to:-
- Course assignments or projects
- Projects conducted by individuals working or studying outside Scotland
- Commercial projects or projects likely to be involved in litigation
- Software installation and licensing.
